
SK Reynaldo “Rey” Estrellas, 1961-2024
It is with great sadness we announce that our Brother Sir Knight Reynaldo “Rey” Ignacio Estrellas, passed away on July 18, 2024 after a long illness, at the young age of 62. He died peacefully in the company of his family.
Rey was born on October 29, 1961 in the Philippines. In 2002, Rey immigrated to the United States to join his wife Elsa, bringing with him their two sons, Kevin and Joshua (also a Brother Knight of council 8157). Together, Rey and Elsa built a new life in Texas, where Rose and Patrick were born. They shared a devotion to strong family values and a deep Catholic faith, and soon became parishioners at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where Rey served as a Eucharistic minister. Many Sundays Elsa wound cantor and Rey would be a Eucharistic Minister. Rey participated in many Knight activities including the concession stand at Valley Ridge. Rey was a 4th degree Knight. Rey was also known for his culinary skills, delighting his family with his famous lumpia. His cooking brought joy and comfort to many family gatherings.
Rey worked for the Duncanville Independent School District as a supervisor in the maintenance department and retired this past June 2024, after 20 years of service.
Rey was a kind man, a true gentleman, his presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. May God rest and keep his soul and may He give his family the strength to go through this difficult time.
