This Saturday September 7, 2024 marked the beginning of the fall little league Class A baseball season. Usually in the fall each team plays 6 games plus a tournament and so it is this year as well. Right now there are 29 league games scheduled for the fall season. The Cedar Hill Baseball Association has told the Knights that there will be many tournament this fall – we’ll see. But this past Saturday 8 Knights gave of their time to work at the concession stand to begin the season. On the morning shift John Espree, Larry Balagna, Michael Clark and Jim Ouimet started thing our with 4 games played at 9am followed by 4 more games.
These guys were quite busy the whole time. John said “at one time the line was way past the canopy”. For sure they earned their money – oh wait everybody volunteers. When the second shift crew arrived at 11:30am business was still brisk, and was so until nearly the end of the day – about 2:30pm. In all the Knights of Columbus served concessions at 10 games and had gross sales in excess of $1,300. It is certainly worth noting that Jesus Medina worked for the first time ever on the second shift and did very well. The second shift personnel consisted of Allen Reitmeier, Mike Fitzgerald, Mario Luna and the aforementioned Jesus Medina.
It as indeed a good start to the 2024 fall baseball season. The baseball committee encourages all Knight to help out when asked to work a shift during the fall baseball season – just say “yes” to Miguel Hernandez when he call upon you.
